$74 Million Available to Boost Genomic Health Research

The 2026 Genomics Health Futures grant will support projects that aim to improve disease detection, screening, and treatment through genomics.
The funding will focus on projects that:
- Develop genomic tools to identify people at higher risk of cancer and make genomic testing more accessible
- Research new genes, improve diagnosis rates, and model diseases for targeted therapies or prevention
- Use polygenic risk scores to identify high-risk groups for common and complex diseases
- Improve polygenic risk scores for better monitoring and treatment of common cancers
- Enhance the use of clinical genomics in everyday healthcare
- Build research infrastructure to make data sharing and analysis across Australia easier and longer lasting
